When to see a doctor

• A rash under the fold that doesn't clear with keeping the skin dry, or that smells, weeps, bleeds or spreads.
• Open sores, skin breakdown, redness with warmth, or fever.
• Back pain, trouble walking, or problems with hygiene caused by the weight of the fold.
• Any decision about surgery, weight-loss medication or a new compression garment after surgery.

Garments

Shapewear and compression garments can cause skin irritation, numbness or restricted breathing if they're too tight. Don't wear compression over broken skin or while pregnant without your clinician's approval, and follow your surgeon's instructions for post-operative garments.
